I've always been a night owl, so my interest in astronomy started by gazing at the night sky from dark sites as a child. A neighbor gave me a 3-inch Newtonian reflector and I had my first wondrous sight of Saturn. The fascination became stronger when I found that my school library had all the back issues of Sky & Telescope magazine into the 1940s, and I devoured each of them. Assembled a 6-inch f/10 Newtonian scope in college and I was able to see even deeper into space. I'm now interested in Electronically Assisted Astronomy (EAA) because it allows me to easily see dim objects in great detail with small telescopes. EAA also produces interesting images with less processing effort and in far less time than dedicated astrophotography.
